ValaV (he/they) is a Venezuelan producer and DJ who left forBarcelona to find a chosen family and follow their creative journey. Co-founder of the secret queer rave series Yo·Yo, they quickly became one of the city's queer scene's beloved artist, and in the past year, the rest of the industry’s been finally catching up with this talent, offering him his first appearances on Barcelona’s major stages: Brunch Electronic, Razzmatazz, Hivernacle, Apolo or Input.

After appearing on previous compilations, it was time to give them the proper space to show their essence : a warm emotional mix of hard groove and trance techno full of uplifting fun-loving energy for those special moments shared on the dancefloor. As ValaV provides spaces for our community to feel seen and supported, it was only right to give them the space to be seen as an artist too, so we're excited to release their debut EP Dancing Memories.

This 3-tracker EP is a departure from the more melancholic and introspective aspects of their previous productions, and approached as an exploration of a sound closer to the sweaty warm energetic atmospheres he creates as a DJ.

Starting the EP, the title track “Dancing Memories” is built on a steady groove of rich layered percussions, softened and lifted by emotional arpeggios and pumped by upbeat poppy vocals. A foot in emotional techno, a foot in catchy trance techno, this track is bridging ValaV’s past and future sound.

Following is “Bold Waves”, which bases its groove on a very 00’s round bouncy stabby bass reminiscent of Azzido Da Bass at its best Dooms Night years, balanced out by an ever-evolving rhythmically chopped pad moving through the track, bringing a floatiness to the sturdy groove. A special attention given to the sound design of the percussions, organic and textured, makes the dancer feel envelopped by a coat of mysticism, illustrating ValaV’s love and connection to wild nature.

Closing the EP is “Infinite Beat”, a straight-forward galloping track giving out a classic 00’s Hard House feel and built around a vocal sample twisted in various ways and adorned with a sliding, ghostly yet electric sound design haunting the track like a screaming spirits stuck in an overheating outlet, bringing a loopy dreamy quality to the groove.
